A Matter of Christian Conscience

To start with, we shall have to spend a little time on the nature of conscience.

The Bible says that man is made in the image of God and when we are  explaining what that means we stress that man like God is a moral being. He is able to reason, assess and respond at a moral level. He has a conscience which enables him to distinguish between right and wrong: to know the difference between good and bad.

No other created thing has this capacity and therefore it places man at the summit of God’s creation. It is this that makes man akin to God as no other creature is akin to Him. It is often said that a dog is man’s best friend. Personally I would want to challenge that, but accepting for the moment this idea, the very best dog has no conscience and quite definitely the very worst man has.

Is this the End Time?

questionHow can we know when Jesus will return and the Kingdom of God established

The answer to this depends upon matching the current events in the world with the prophecies in the Bible; which is difficult to do.

If we look at Jesus’ prophecy concerning the Jews and Jerusalem:

Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

In 1948 Israel became a nation again in her own land. In 1967 Israel captured Jerusalem. In 1980 Jerusalem became the Capital of Israel.

This does not of itself constitute the end of the treading down of Jerusalem by the Gentiles (non-Jews) for according to other prophets there is to be a final invasion and capture of Jerusalem before Christ returns to deliver Israel.

God our Father

Learn about God our Father and how we can become His children.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”(Genesis 1:1).

With these few short words the Bible introduces us to God. We learn that the God of the Bible is Creator — maker of heaven and earth, the giver of life, the giver of good. But the Bible shows us that God is much more than a creator. He is our heavenly Father.

God wants us to be His children. God wants to be our heavenly Father. In fact, this is one of the most powerful messages in the Bible. God is willing to make us part of His special family, but that does not happen automatically. We must enter His family in the special way He has prescribed. That way is summed up in these words:

“Yet to all who received Jesus, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”(John 1:12-13).
